Community Action for Relief and Development-CARD also known as CARD-SOM is a Somali-based, non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making organization that observes humanitarian principles to guide its operations. Further, the organisation has developed operational principles, a human resource base and knowledge management to support the delivery of effective sector-based programmes that provide value and produce the desired impact on the beneficiaries.
The organisation has multi-sectorial experience based on its almost 6 years (2017 to date) of practical experience in diverse emergency humanitarian responses and interventions, empowerment including training in programme and human resource training, Programmes Monitoring and Evaluation in diverse sectors, undertaking and supporting development responses oriented towards various sectors.

Objectives of the organization
CARD is working towards achieving the following objectives for the benefit of its target group i.e. the poor, socially and economically disadvantaged people;
- To promote sustainable, community-based natural resource management, and integrated livelihood diversification to improve the long-term resilience of the community.
- To concertize and create awareness among the poor and needy people on prevailing socio economic situations and encourage them for active participation in socio-economic development programmes.
- To increase access to education at all levels including skills and vocational training.
- To promote sustainable and low cost basic social services (WASH, Health, Education, Protection etc) interventions in rural and urban settlements.
- To co-operate and assist in applicable joint venture with other like-minded organizations and line ministries seeking the goal to holistically address poverty and improving the socio-economic status of common people or relief and rehabilitation at the onset of disasters.
- Women and youth empowerment organizing, mobilizing, developing capacity, skills, experiences and creating enabling environment for inclusion in decision making process thus leading to their socio-economical independent.
- To ensure cost effective and affordable community-based and easy to access viable market ventures for women and youth for development.
- To consider and make use of indigenous knowledge and experiences on top of contextual analysis in programme design and development.
- To seek and receive subscriptions, donations and other supports from well-wishers, individuals, donors, institutions and organizations both in-country and abroad and use same to respond in a timely manner in line with the laid down donation principles.
